Let's Talk About Sex(ually Transmitted Infections)
March 27th, 2012
I want to address a not-so-fun issue, but one that is extremely important – your health. Not the “take your vitamins, eat your vegetables, get some exercise” health, but your health as it relates to your sexual activities.
One of our biggest goals at Masque is to open the lines of communication with your sexual partner – talk about your fantasies, your hesitations, your turn-ons and turn-offs. In these conversations, we want you to talk about your sexual health. Any kind of unprotected sexual activity can lead to sexually transmitted infections – like Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, or HPV. Some people have no symptoms, but may be carriers of these infections which can then be passed on to their partners. Some infections are easily treatable, and those that aren’t can be managed with regular health care. Left untreated, some of these sexually transmitted infections can lead to major health issues, like infertility or cancer.
Make a date with your partner to get tested – you may think it’s not a very romantic thing to do, but there’s nothing sexier than worry-free sex.
